"I have been creating mixed media for years but I am somewhat new to the art journaling hobby. Much like altered books, art journals contain creations used to express ourselves. I have loved art journaling and have been anxious to find new techniques to practice. Nichole Rae does a beautiful job showing her techniques, giving you lots of visual inspiration, and then detailing the process very specifically, Her style is her own- simple, layered, paper and photo layouts and themed ephemera, all accented by carefully chosen words both printed and stamped. The result is a gorgeous end result of expression. Leaning more towards a journal than just an artsy layout.

It's true, this book sticks singly to style described above, but I am grateful she takes the time to really explain the process. For the price of an art magazine you get a full-color, well photographed, step by step walk through of how to recreate the looks. By the time you have read this book, gazed at these pages, and worked through her prompts you will know how to complete one of these bursting albums. I especially love the instructions on prepping and refinishing the books you purchase for future journals. A few little bonus projects like repurposing an old deck of cards will also keep you plenty busy. I love this book, and can't wait to add these techniques to my own journal collection."

"As an art educator I love books like these to inspire others, it's a good book, I recommend it!"
